Stuff

A tomato from the garden....yummy. Will be good tomorrow night on pizza.

A quick thank you card. I took this picture last weekend down at the lake.

And a few cards I made yesterday. Still working on more. Just trying to relax from today. Wes and I ran some errands and when we were leaving our last stop, Wal Mart, there was a puddle of anti-freeze under the durango....luckily, I had a plastic(wtf??) gasket thingy broke and Robert was able to fix it. I think I need a drink!!!

Weekend at the Lake

We went to the lake this weekend. Had a nice relaxing time.

Wes and Pops looking for fish

A certain little boy was tired and ended up with a big attitude.

He was having so much fun fishing...

Brenna after she jumped in the lake

I took way too many pictures this weekend...over 250. And the cousins didn't even make it down. Imagine how many I would have taken if the other 3 kids had shown up....My husband still teases me about the amount of picuters I take.
I did finsh my dish cloth and started on another on. This one, I think I am going to add some tulle in the middle for a scrubby.
Off to do some work....need to make some sales calls..........

Waiting for the bus...day two of school. Wes ran straight to the bus on the second day. He is enjoying riding the bus. I'm glad, cause after kindergarten, he won't be riding the bus until he is in 7th grade....we live to close to the school.

A dish cloth I'm working on. It should be done tonight.

The pillow I am working on for a fundraiser. Just a little more stuffing and then to close it up.

A t-shirt I plan on making this evening....for myself. I plan on putting this on the front.

I was inspired by Donna Downey's art journal, that I decided to make one of my own. It is newspapers glued together and then painted on. Not finished yet, along way to go. This one is actually going to be a recipe book. I just need to get some more newspapers and get to work.

Also planned for tonights crafts are some quick project bags I saw on another blog, can't remember which one. Anyway, I want to make a couple tonight to put stuff in for our trip to the lake.

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was the first day of school for us. Can you tell someone was excited???

There was a misshap along the way. We never heard from the bus company about what time they would be picking Wes up. So, when I called today they told me that he wouldn't be riding the bus cause we are in a walk zone. Well, duh, yeah, we are in a walk zone, I can see the school from my front door. Anyway, after a very frustrating morning....I tried to explain that I know we are in a walk zone, but I was told that ALL kindergarteners are required to ride the bus to school. The lady told me that no, we were in a walk zone and that was that. ARRRGGGHHHH!!!! Yeah I was pissed....I got off the phone with her and then called my husband....would have made sailors blush.

Anyway, he DOES ride the bus, they had the wrong phone number for us plus the bus driver and number changed. Thanks for letting us know...they even had an alternate phone number for us, but didn't try it.

And here is Wes getting on the bus. I plan on taking more pictures of him tomorrow when he actually gets on the bus at our house.

T Bones

Last night, Wes and I went to the KC T-Bones game. It was our first game. I miss watching baseball. I wish Wes was more into it. Oh well.

This was Wes finishing his 3rd hotdog. He was going to have another but the concession stands were closed. I'm just glad they were only $1!!!! Another plus was that parking is FREE!!! The downside....a bottle of water was $3!!! It was nice. And what was even better, was the fact that we have had some cool weather for the past week. In fact, our air is still off....and I just got the bill. Yeah, I'm glad we can turn the air off. I just don't see how our electric bill can be so freaking high!!!!!

And here are the T-Bones in action...they are in the maroon uniforms.

Today one a friend of Wes' is over for the day. School starts tomorrow and his mom needed a babysitter. So, I told her to bring him over for the day....I've already had to set the timer on certain toys...and it's only been 3 hours.....help me!!! Although, I have gotten some really cute pictures of them. I've been trying to get them outside to play before it gets too warm for them.
Oh the joys of being a boy.....

Camping

Someone was very very excited to go camping last night. Even if it was in the back yard!

I have never seen anyone sooooo excited about anything before.
And the best part, he actually stayed outside the entire night. They got up around 6:30 this morning. We made pop-up pancakes for breakfast with some strawberries....now I need to get more. Should have gone to the farmer's market this morning. Instead, I had my monthly mom's breakfasat. Of course, since I had already eaten, I just enjoyed the great conversations. Made plans with a couple of them for later in the week. I'm meeting one on Tuesday, the first day of school. Since our kids are going into kindergarten, we need the support. I know I'm going to be a basket case. I still need to label all of his school supplies before then...ugh!!!

Off to finish a pillow for a fundraiser....

tomatoes and applesauce

because isn't that what every 5 year old eats at 9 in the morning? or is it just my son?

not much going on today. it rained. went to my dad's to pick up some flowers he had gotten from work. 6 plants in all. i gave 3 to a friend. since i get so many plants and flowers from him, there is just no way i can take care of them all. so, i've been "donating" them to friends of mine.

tonight was "meet your teacher" night at school. wes just ran around the room...full of energy. i will be so happy once school starts and he can "release" some of his energy. we also ran into a friend. her son and wes went to the same daycare. hayden is coming over on monday so the boys can play together.

time to watch the olympics........

Wednesday

No pictures....yet. We had playgroup this morning. It was so nice to get out. Wes had fun running and playing with other kids. I'm supposed to go to a Mothers and More meeting this evening. It's our ice cream social....so we are playing bunko. Maybe I'll get some pictures of all the fun tonight.

I started working on another dishcloth late last night. I'm using smaller knitting needles....I like the way it is turning out so far. Hoping to finish by this weekend.

Off to craft land.......

Worked on some cards yesterday. Not done with them, just started them.

We went and met my dad for lunch at Fritz's today. After lunch, Wes and I headed to Kaleidoscope. It is a fun place for kids to be very creative. There is so much for them to do. Granted we only had 50mins, could have used more time. Maybe some other day, we will do two sessions.

You can even make puzzles. Here is Wes turning the wheel and making his puzzle. I still need to take some pictures of the finished product, hopefully I can get to that this evening.

And speaking of this evening, I plan on finishing my cards and starting a few more. I'm also hoping to get a chance to work on the scarf some more.

We went to the zoo this morning. This guy was all over the playground area.

And this guy wanted to leave after only an hour at the zoo. It was such a great morning to get out. Looks like tomorrow is going to be another nice day here. We might go back on Wednesday after playgroup. I'm just glad we get to have a few more days with the air off. We might actually make it all week....which would be awesome.

I'm off to grab a few leaves. I want to make a few cards and need leaf impressions for them.

Sunday, August 10, 2008

It has been a nice weekend. So nice in fact, that we turned the air off. Yesterday it rained the majority of the day. Wes had fun playing outside in the rain.

I was able to get some really cute pictures of him later in the day and without the umbrella.

And with a little imagination, anyone can become Indiana Jones. It was so funny, he was having so much fun.

I have almost finished the pillow I was working on for my mil for a fundraiser/event they are doing. All that needs to get done is the stuffing and then the sewing the small opening. When I went to stuff the pillow, I realized that I didn't have any stuffing, just batting. So, it looks like after the zoo tomorrow morning, we will be making a trip to Hobby Lobby or JoAnns. I'm still working on my other projects. Won't finish everything I had hoped to finish this weekend.

Wes came to church with me this morning. It was the first time and probably the last for awhile. He didn't seem to enjoy it simply because he didn't know the songs and since he can't read yet....
Maybe in a couple of months he will be ready to go back again with me. I must admit, he did do better than I thought he would.
Off to work on more projects....on a deadline with my projects.

Saturday, August 09, 2008

Been busy the past few weeks. Went with my mil to pick up some peafowls, they were only 8 weeks old.

This guy was very protective. He was also my model for the day.

This guy is OLD. I don't even remember what the owner called him. She said that he basically just sits there and no one bothers him.

And here is one of the peafowls. She got a total of 5, but was going to give 3 to a friend. I think she ended up keeping 3. Not sure what she plans on doing with them. They are cute.

The lady that she bought them from also gave me a bunch of peacock feathers.

On this weekend's agenda....to finish up on some projects and start some new ones. I need to finish a pillow that is going to an auction. Finish the quilt I started for Wes. Finish the scarf for my mil, it is her birthday present...in November. I also want to finish moving all of my craft stuff from downstairs to the third bedroom. The projects I want to start are Christmas presents, more dish cloths and some tea towels to go with, a few ornaments, some t-shirts and another quilt or two. And, since it is supposed to rain all weekend, it is the perfect time.

Wes starts kindergarten on the 19th. WOW!! This summer has just gone by so fast. So, my plans for the last week of summer.....the zoo, kaleidoscope, train station, the pool, and more pool time.
